You will be expertly guided through everything you’ve ever wanted to know about truffles. Feel the rush of excitement as you join the hunt for the elusive black truffle through the forest of 4,000 oak and hazelnut trees.

Once the perfect truffle is found, we head back to the warmth of the truffle shed for a decadent six-course degustation with matching wines prepared by an award winning executive (and hatted) chef, who has worked in Michelin star restaurants across the globe. Chef prepares the truffle degustation in front of you while teaching you all the secrets to using truffles at home. Sit back and enjoy the dishes or get up and get involved in this interactive and entertaining event.

Following our truffle experience and whilst in the cold climate wine region we will visit an award winning vineyard. This region is rich in winter wine favourites and renown for multiple award winners, such as Shiraz, Riesling and Pinot Noir that has even the New Zealanders nervous!

Regional Farmers Markets

Capital Region Farmers Market and Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets

Grab your biggest basket and join us on one of our regular monthly visits to Canberra’s biggest and best farmers markets.

We will travel from Bowral to meet the farmers and growers at the Capital Region Farmers Market followed by Fyshwick Food Markets, a Canberra institution and Canberra’s oldest markets, frequented by diplomats and carrying a vast array of quality goodies.

The Capital Region Farmers Market was formed after a farmer was trying to sell his own vegetables and faced hardship due to the stronghold of wholesalers in Canberra.

The droughts put an emphasis on the plight of Canberra and region farmers, wholesale arrangements were inadequate and farmers just couldn’t sell through commercial means. At the same time, many small producers were just starting out and needed an outlet.

The first Capital Region Farmers Market was held in March 2004. Helping our farmers immensely it was established without any financial support or grants from governments or other sources. It started with just 15 stalls.

Today the Capital Region Farmers Market is still managed by the originators, the not-for-profit Rotary Club of Hall and has grown to have an almost 200 registered stallholders, hosting around 100 stalls.

Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets have over 25 shops dedicated to selling fresh quality produce including 4 fruit shops (2 which sell a wide range of flowers), 4 butchers, 3 delicatessens, bakeries and cafes, café, 2 seafood shops, a speciality Asian grocery, organics, a wine and liquor shop which focuses on boutique beer and local wines as well as a number of other speciality shops.

Come and support true regional producers with A Grand Day Out by foraging for seasonal wonders on any Saturday. Fresh seafood is easily transported within our large onboard fridge.

Inclusions: Light refreshments en route, water, juice, gourmet lunch box, tea/ coffee.
